About Barb - Biography
I have spent over 30 years in education in Toronto primarily as a guidance counsellor. I have worked with young people in the classroom and in the guidance office but also in more informal situations such as coaching, student council, outdoor education, and chaperoning school trips.

My passion is advising teenagers and their families about university and college options. I like exploring the many possibilities with them including considering a gap year. I enjoy helping with problem solving, decision making and understanding the application process and its subtleties. To me "the best fit" is the goal for a successful post-secondary journey.

Previous clients have been accepted to colleges and universities across Canada, USA, UK and indeed all over the world.

I grew up in Toronto and attended Lawrence Park Collegiate, Neuchatel Junior College in Switzerland, Western University, Université Laval and the University of Toronto earning a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Education in Guidance and Counselling.

I worked for the Peel Board of Education and more recently in the Guidance Department at Havergal College, a university prep school in Toronto. After retiring from teaching in 2009 I started private consulting and also worked for a not –for- profit international gap year organization that placed young people in 4-12 month volunteer jobs in 15 different countries.
